Dạng bài Map Labelling từ lâu đã quá quen thuộc với các thí sinh thi IELTS phần Listening. Đây là dạng bài tương đối quan trọng, thường xuyên xuất hiện trong Section 2. 1. Tổng quan dạng bài Map Labelling trong IELTS Listening
1.1. Dạng bài Map Labelling là gì ?
Đây là dạng bài yêu cầu thí sinh điền đúng địa điểm được yêu cầu trong audio vào một bảng map tổng thể theo dạng chữ cái (A,B,C,…). Dạng bài thường xuyên xuất hiện trong Section 2, nội dung sẽ liên quan tới giới thiệu một địa điểm mới, hoặc tham quan một công viên, khu vui chơi,…
1.2. Cách làm dạng bài Map Labelling
Bước 1: Đọc kỹ đề bài và xác định phương hướng trong bản đồ
- Xác định hướng bản đồ (North – South – East – West)
- Chú ý điểm bắt đầu (Starting point – You are here) và đường đi chính (Main Path)
- Ghi nhớ những địa điểm cố định có sẵn, giúp bạn tránh bị lạc hướng trong lúc nghe
Bước 2: Nghe kỹ và lần theo hướng dẫn
- Đánh dấu các lối đi, tốc ký các từ nghe được nếu chưa lần ra lối đi
- Chú ý những từ chỉ vị trí, chuyển hướng đi: Next to, Beside, On the left/right side, At the corner, Between A and B,…
2. Các từ vựng cần thiết

3. Ví dụ cụ thể vào bài map
Mô tả bài nghe: Hội trưởng ban Giao thông đang giải thích các thay đổi giao thông tại Granford, đi theo các chữ cái A–I trên bản đồ.
…OK, so this slide shows a map of the central area of Granford, with the High Street in the middle and School Road on the right. Now, we already have a set of traffic lights in the High Street at the junction with Station Road, but we’re planning to have another set at the other end, at the School Road junction (Q14), to regulate the flow of traffic along the High Street.
We’ve decided we definitely need a pedestrian crossing. We considered putting this on School Road, just outside the school, but in the end we decided that could lead to a lot of traffic congestion so we decided to locate it on the High Street, crossing the road in front of the supermarket (Q15).
That’s a very busy area, so it should help things there. We’re proposing some changes to parking. At present, parking isn’t allowed on the High Street outside the library, but we’re going to change that, and allow parking there (Q16), but not at the other end of the High Street near School Road. There’ll be a new ‘No Parking’ sign on School Road, just by the entrance to the school (Q17), forbidding parking for 25 metres. This should improve visibility for drivers and pedestrians, especially on the bend just to the north of the school.
As far as disabled drivers are concerned, at present they have parking outside the supermarket, but lorries also use those spaces, so we’ve got two new disabled parking. spaces on the side road up towards the bank (Q18). It’s not ideal, but probably better than the present arrangement. We also plan to widen the pavement on School Road. We think we can manage to get an extra half-metre on the bend just before you get to the school, on the same side of the road (Q19).
Finally, we’ve introduced new restrictions on loading and unloading for the supermarket. so lorries will only be allowed to stop there before 8 am. That’s the supermarket on School Road (Q20) – we kept to the existing arrangements with the High Street supermarket.
